Book Review Policy

Hello, to any authors/publishers interested in sending me a book(s) for review, welcome to my blog BellaTheBibliophile. Before contacting me please read my review policy to make sure I’m the right person for the book you are wanting reviewed.

What is this blog about? 

This blog is about books, I will be posting book reviews, hauls, book tags, and more bookish posts.

What type of books do I read? 

I read a variety of books, I don’t stick to just one genre, I like to give all books a chance but I do prefer anybody requesting a review to send me a blurb of the book with the first email so that I will able to see if the book will hold my interest. With that being said I do lean towards certain books, for example young adult, romance, suspense, historical fiction are just a few of my favorites.

Types of books I will/will not review?

I will review arcs, printed books, and some galleys (depending on my schedule). I will not review ebooks at all. Also if you are needing a review posted by a certain time I would like to know before you send a book because I will have to check my schedule to make sure I can read and review the book in the given time frame.

Books I will decline to review? 

If I decline to review a book it will be for one of two reasons. Reason one will be because the blurb didn’t hold my interest, the book just wasn’t right for me. Reason two being that I am too busy or I have to many books to read/review in general. If it’s the second one I will make a memo at the top of this page, letting publishers/authors know that I won’t be accepting books for review. Also if you are needing a review posted by a certain time I would like to know before you send a book because I will have to check my schedule to make sure I can read and review the book in the given time frame, if I can’t I will decline the book. If you send a book without telling me a timeline for the review I reserve the right to not post a review on a specific date/time if I am unable to.

What’s in my book reviews? 

In my reviews I will be posting the authors blurb, a first impression of the book (the cover art and blurb), my thoughts/opinions, and a rating. I like to post photos of the book cover and photos I’ve taken of the book as well. All reviews will be my honest opinion, I do tend to love books more than I dislike them but if I read a book and I dislike I will let my readers know and I will explain why I didn’t like the book. If a book is sent to me for free in return for a review I will post a disclaimer on the blog post to let readers know. I post long reviews on my blog with more details but I also post reviews on Goodreads, Barnes & Nobles, Amazon, and I am willing to post reviews on other sites.

How I rate books ;

5 Stars – I loved this book and highly recommend it to everyone I know. I found myself not wanting to put this book down, it was just that great.

4 Stars – This book was pretty good but it wasn’t my top reads of the year. Still I recommend this book to others.

3 Stars – I liked this book but it definitely wasn’t my favorite.

2 Stars – I didn’t really like this book, maybe I didn’t like the writing or something with the plot, either way this book just wasn’t for me. (I will explain in detail what I didn’t like)

1 Star – Yes I made it through this book but I didn’t like it and felt like I wasted my time.

0 Stars –  If I give a book 0 stars then that means I absolutely disliked it or/and I just couldn’t get through the book. With that being said when receiving a book for review if I just can’t bring myself to get through it I can/will leave this rating so be aware of this before contacting me. It’s very rare for me to not be able to finish a book but I do have the right to not finish a book if it’s just not me.
